Advertising & PR

Banner Ads

I do accept banner ads. Naturally I’ll be looking for ethical companies, and would like to see the artwork prior to reaching any agreement (purely to make sure they won’t blind any young children).

While TrailofAnts.com is centred upon — and targeted towards — the travel genre, the web site is also attracting a growing number of readers and writers, and fans of the blogging platform per se.

Here’s a guide to the current rates on TrailofAnts.com.

Advertising Rate Card

{Vital Statistics up to August 11th 2010: PageRank 4; Alexa Rank: 192,816; Unique Visitors: c.1,800 and growing; Monthly Page Views; c.4,500; Twitter followers: 1094}

Text Links

I don’t sell text ad links. If you were looking to buy a juicy text ad link, advertising something like Cheap Barbados Hotels, or Cheap Flights to Mars then you’re out of luck. I don’t sell paid links in any way, shape or form.

While I’m sure your product or service is reputable, I don’t support SEO manipulation. The crux of it is, as a traveller, I’ve seen enough hard-working and honest traders get washed aside by the Mighty Dollar, so I won’t support the practise here. The other reason is they’re ugly.

For more information about my attitude towards paid links and other controversial blogging practises, visit my Blogging Ethics page.

Sponsorship

I do accept sponsorship. I won’t lie to you, if you emailed me and offered to sponsor the entire site for a period of time, I’d throw myself into an impromptu jig.

So before that happens, let me lay down a few ground rules: no matter what you pay me, I will always retain full copyright over the content produced for this web site. No matter what you tell me, I will always retain full editorial control over the content and direction of the website.

I recommend potential site sponsors have a proven track record in delivering excellence, and I prefer those with awesome brand awareness. I’m fully open to creative projects, and would be happy to discuss innovative and rule-breaking ideas.

Hiring Me

I do take on commissions. If you haven’t noticed, I’m a preety god righter. Although travel is my core passion, I’m also a proven blog writer, and currently write for various websites and blogs on a number of varied subjects, including: insurance, technology, household goods, and luxury travel.

For the small screen I’ve got the down-low on SEO, and I’m well-known for writing consistently punchy content for the web. Print work is equally possible and welcome. I’ve got seven years experience working for one of the UK’s leading media companies, and I know what it takes to deliver engaging content to a targeted audience; on time, every time.

If you’d like to hire me for a one off piece, or a series of blog posts on a targeted subject I’d be happy to hear from you.

Sponsored Posts

I do accept freebies. But I don’t accept bribes. Blogging is a great platform to promote genuinely good products. I insist on the freedom to write in my own voice, and express my own opinions. All contra-deals will be clearly stated as such, and all sponsor’s links will be rendered ‘nofollow’ to ensure integrity.

If you have a product that is suited to the readership of TrailofAnts.com, I’d be happy to discuss the possibility of featuring it either here on the site, or elsewhere.

Please note that I do not review services. Only products i.e. things I can hold in my hand and slowly squeeze.

Link for Link

I’m happy to exchange links with fellow travel bloggers, as long as your content is appropriate to the travel genre and you’re not a certified business. You’ll find all the information you need in the popular T-Bag Travel Blog Directory.

So, what now?
