If Ernesto “Che” Guevara can do it and become a revolutionary, then surely I can do it and at least get a few photos and pub stories. I’ve seen ‘The Motorcycle Diaries’, now it’s time to write the modern day sequel and try and revolutionise a few people’s thoughts about this culture soaked continent.

This continent is probably the one I most fear. I figure you need a certain amount of fear in you when you’re travelling, once that fear disappears you become complacent and that can only be a bad thing. Look at what complacency has done to the world already; war, poverty, global warming, sp*rs fans.

Through my research South America has delivered an increasing throb of anticipation into my veins. The variety of people that are scattered upon the most spectacular landscape is simply staggering. Kodak moments at every hour, I’ll be sure to abstain from too much shutter-buggery in order to allow South America to paint a lasting impression on my psyche.

I’m expecting long waits at borders and if I’m going to have my camera half-inched, this is where it’s going to happen (a la Ed). South America has the benefit of a nomad with an open mind, by the time I reach Mexico I hope I’m educated enough to understand Che’s original plight and sane enough to explain it to those in North America.
