Gallery: Moscow, Russia

in Russia

TrailofAnts.com is well known for its letters and lines, and poetic prose, but I’m equally passionate about photography. It’s usually plays second fiddle to my writing here on the travel blog, so I felt it was time to let some of my travel photography shine.

As this is the first slideshow, I thought it was fitting to showcase the first stop on The Trail, which was Moscow, Russia.

Travelling to Moscow, Russia

If I’m honest, it wasn’t the finest destination I’ve ever visited. I found it rather unwelcoming, and severely lacking in character. But then: I was there alone; I didn’t speak the language; hadn’t done any research; was feeling a little shy; and just getting from the airport to the city was a mission in itself.

When I visit Moscow again, I’ll make a point to look for a quirky, underground scene where things are a little edgier than what you might find in a deserted Gorky Park or a tourist speckled Red Square.

Photography of Moscow

The slideshow is under two minutes, and while I don’t believe it gives you a rounded view of the Russian capital, I do think it should give you a friendly Monday morning jolt.

If you enjoyed this slideshow featuring some of my photography from Moscow, please show your support by leaving a short comment below. This is the best channel for feedback available to me, and helps me to focus on bringing you the types of content you want.

If you got positively orgasmic about the sheer punchiness of this video slideshow, then you might like to know about Animoto, one of my favourite web applications. If you use that link, Animoto will chuck me a few pence which will keep TrailofAnts.com afloat for the next couple of hours, with the added side-effect of making you kool.

Ant, I love the Animoto slide shows, and I reckon they are well suited to your style. I’ve been playing around with them for a while and you get some great stuff out the other end, in only a couple of minutes. Good work mate, keep it up. I love your style, you keep us all sane……..

Thanks Jason, I think they’re a great service too. Like you said, “…you get some great stuff out the other end, in only a couple of minutes.”

Thanks also for the compliments :)

Very easy to do, José. Take a look at Animoto with the above link, and if you decide to sign up (around $30 a year — cheap!) I receive a small payment in return.

Easily reachable from Manchester airport, J. Maybe tie it in with a tour of the Baltics (I suspect they’re more interesting as a destination).

Thanks Zablon. Moscow is oft portrayed as being a little grim and drizzly, but when that sun comes out it really changes the mood of the place. Good observation.

umm.. lacking in character ? seriously? are you high? and i’m not saying it cause i was born there, but Moscow has character coming out of its ears … sorry to say, but your slideshow is rather weak…

next time maybe you should skip shopping and dudes who are dressed as Stalin and visit gorgeous Tsaritcyno park and the Old Arbat with all the local artists ..

this must be one of the worst right ups on the most colorful city in the world..

what a shame.

Wholly disagree, but we’re both entitled to our opinions.
